Program

1. Children's Class

The children's class covers elementary instuction in the Korean language including basic conversational skills. Korean culture and traditions are taught not only through a traditional class setting but also through the use of Korean children's tales, traditional songs, and games. During each appropriate semester, we celebrate holidays like Suhlnahl(New Year's Day) and Chuseok(Korean Thanksgiving), and also organize field trips to traditional Korean arts performances. The class schedule is as followed:

Saturdays 10:00-1:00 PM 14 week semester, 2 semesters a year
Semester 1 : January 28 ~ May 6, 2006
Semester II : September 6 ~ December 16, 2006

2. Parents Class

This class is designed for parents of Korean adoptees, but also is open to potential couples and individuals who plan to adopt Korean children. The class approach emphasizes the Korean language structure, vocabulary, and communication. Through interaction in the classroom, the parents will practice essential communication in Korean. The parents' class also provides an hour course on Korean history. The parents' class takes place during the same time as the children's class for ease and convenience.

3. Adult Class

A formal class for adult Korean American adoptees is not same as the current structure of the KOHSH. We offer classes through the Korean Language Center under the same organization. These classes emphasize the Korean language structure, vocabulary, and communication. Through interaction in the classroom, the students will practice essential communication in Korean. The course levels are from Elementary Korean to Advanced Korean.
